Tree Saver Injection Formula - Oxytetracycline Hydrochloride (OTC)
The Tree Saver Injection Formula consist of an OTC Antibiotic (39% active ingredient) used to prevent/treat phytoplasma diseases in palms. The formula does not kill the phytoplasma, but it does not allow it to reproduce to levels that are toxic to the tree.One bottle contains enough OTC to treat approximately 25 average size trees. A vial has enough to tree one tree.Tree Saver Injection Formula comes as a powder and must be hydrated by the user. This is because OTC begins to degrade when it reacts with water and light. It is best to store in a cool, dark and low humidity environment.

Injection Valves
The Tree Saver Injection System consist of a patented Valve that is inserted into the palm. Two sizes of valves are available based on the size of the palm to be injected: 5/16” for large palms and 1/4” for small palms.The valve acts similar to one on a Basketball or Volleyball. The OTC is able to enter into the tree but not escape.The use of the valve is important as it serves 3 vital functions: A) They seal the drilled hole and keep the antibiotic from seeping out. B) Injecting into the valve creates pressure in the cavity which helps to get the antibiotic flowing in the palms vascular system. C) They reduce the opportunity for pathogen entry.

Syringes and Needles
Syringes are used to express the hydrated OTC Tree Injection Formula through the back of the Valve and into the palm. Two syringes are available based on the volume of injections being made.
The Single Dose Syringe can be cleaned and re-used repeatedly but only makes one injection at a time. The Self-Refilling Syringe is for high volume commercial use. This syringe is capable of making thousands of injections and can be rebuilt.
The stainless steel needles must be used with the syringe. They have an extra thick wall for reduced breakage.

Drill Bits
Using the proper size drill bit is important for insuring the Valve seats into the palm with a snug fit. A 5/16" drill bit is used for the large Valves and a 1/4" drill bit is used for the small Valves. Two lengths of drill bits are available in 5/16" sizing.
